Sir,
Foreign Office, June 14, 1910. WITH reference to your letter of the 11th November last, I am directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to transmit to you, to be laid before Viscount Morley, the accompanying copy of a note which has been received from the United States Ambassador in London,* giving a list of the Powers which have declared their intention of sending delegates to the proposed Opium Conference to be held at The Hague, and expressing the hope that His Majesty's Government will see their way to accepting the United States proposal.
I am to enquire when the reply from the Government of India as to the desirability of this country being represented at the conference may be expected.
